Acquisition criteria
What we buy.
We look at profitable companies doing $500,000 to $5 million a year, anywhere in the United States, with a real operating history behind them.
The work we understand
Operating and service companies
Mechanical and specialty trades. Plumbing and electrical. Landscaping and grounds maintenance. Commercial cleaning and facilities. Trucking and local logistics. Equipment service and repair. Professional services with steady repeat work.
E-commerce
Established stores with genuine operating history, on Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, or direct to consumer. A smaller part of what we do.
What makes a business straightforward for us
- Repeat or contracted revenue rather than one-off jobs
- No single customer accounting for most of the income
- A crew or manager who handles the day to day
- Books that roughly reconcile to the tax returns
- Licenses and permits that can transfer
None of these are requirements. Owner-dependent businesses are normal at this size and we buy them regularly. It changes how a deal is structured, not whether we are interested.
What we pass on
- Businesses losing money, and turnarounds
- Pre-revenue or concept-stage companies
- Anything needing a license we cannot obtain
- Companies whose revenue rests on one expiring contract
- Restaurants, bars, and retail storefronts
Real estate
If you own the building, that is a good thing and not a complication. We can buy it with the business or lease it from you long term, whichever you would rather do.
Not sure whether you fit? Call 502-509-5095. We can usually tell you in five minutes, and we will tell you if the answer is no.
